Green Concrete: The Exciting Sustainable Possibilities of Today’s Concrete Flooring

How can we make concrete green? Well in this age of environmentally progressive design, concrete floors come complete with a sublime sustainable touch.

Concrete, in fact, is by nature an ecofriendly flooring material. As far back as the 1980s, sustainable concrete solutions have been available for walls and floors.

In the innovative Melbourne Market Relocation project, for example, the extensive life span of the concrete floors laid within play a key role in its sustainability and productivity—with no re-coatings or re-applications needed.

A solid component of this project’s construction was a one-time only, permanent application that works for the total lifespan of the concrete, protecting and preserving concrete floors. This application is known as the Ashford Formula, a water-based formula that features no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and is devoid of fumes and odour. In addition, The Ashford Formula is an adhesive-free, contaminant-free substance that both seals and dust-proofs concrete floors, thus safeguarding the project’s interior air quality. And, as an added bonus, this product comes complete with a 20-year warranty.

Regardless of the nature of your construction project, sustainable concrete solutions are usable, available, and highly recommended.
